Services
We are a charitable organization providing medical equipment and related items to the uninsured and indigent of South Carolina. It is intended that all of the equipment we provide will be new from the factory. We know that it is customary, as well as cheaper, to provide used or donated items, but the hope of the charity is to avoid that if at all possible. When it becomes necessary to provide other than new equipment, it will be at the very least clean, refurbished and in excellent condition. If you have items that you would like to donate, we reserve the right to inspect them before accepting them. All items donated will qualify for a tax deduction of their fair market value. You will be given receipts to that effect.
To physicians, FNPs and Administrators, including assisted living facilities and hospitals:
If you have insured patients that need medical equipment that is covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance, we will gladly provide those items and bill the relevant companies. Those profits will go directly to the charity in order to provide more services for the uninsured. Simply email the patient's name, insurance coverage and item(s) needed, and we will take it from there. All information will be held in strictest confidence. If you prefer, simply call 803-622-7827 or page 803-540-1500 for a return contact. No information about the patient will ever appear on this website or be shared in any way without the patient's express permission.
To those who simply wish to refer someone they know:
Call either number above or email the person's name and a method of contact.
- We will also provide non-medical equipment that is relevant to the patient's need; for example, a ramp for a wheelchair-bound individual so they can move outside the home, or other such items that enhance the quality of life but are not covered by insurance.
- In short, MedNeed of SC will provide anything that is medically necessary to anyone who is medically needy. And we will take those referrals from any legitimate source. BUT....we must protect the integrity of the charity by providing only what is honestly needed to those who are honestly in need.
In order to remain compliant with the IRS as well as our own policies, we require a physician referral, some patient information and signed delivery tickets. If you have no physician and no insurance, you may want to contact the nearest Free Clinic to see if you qualify for their services. There are 36 Free Clinics around the state.
As stated previously, the charity will never share any personal or medical information with anyone other than the referring physician or the patients themselves. It is our intent to make the provision of charitable medical equipment as smooth and as private as possible.
